Why I Use Both ChatGPT and Google Gemini

When I first dipped my toes into AI tools, I was cautious—maybe even a little skeptical. The first results felt a bit off, like a machine trying too hard to sound human.

Modern Sculptures Made of Sheet Steel

But after months of working with both ChatGPT and Google Gemini, I’ve had a change of heart. These tools aren’t just helpful; they’re essential—kind of like a calculator for words.

Because let’s be honest, a calculator is useless if you don’t understand math. AI is the same. If you just keep hitting "generate" without giving it a proper direction, you’ll get a hot mess of content that doesn’t fit anywhere. The real magic is in curating and fine-tuning the prompts, shaping the AI’s responses to fit into the grander scheme of your work or creative vision. If AI gives you bad results, chances are it’s not the AI’s fault—it’s the lack of clear input, just like a bad sketch won’t turn into a masterpiece with fancier brushes.

AI as a Thought Partner

I use AI for all sorts of things—drafting emails, brainstorming ideas, refining responses. But more than that, AI has become a creative partner, almost like an assistant that helps me untangle the thoughts in my head. It’s a novel addition to my workflow, one that supercharges my productivity without replacing the human touch.

But here’s the catch—AI doesn’t replace quality. If I’m sloppy, unclear, or half-hearted about what I want, it shows. AI isn’t a magic wand; it’s a tool that works best when you have a solid plan.

Crafting My Galactic Fossils Story

As an artist creating kinetic sculptures that blend space exploration with paleontology, I use AI to help shape my storytelling. My "galactic fossils" aren’t just metal and motion—they’re ideas, narratives, pieces of a bigger story about human curiosity and the universe. Whether I’m drafting descriptions, refining concepts, or brainstorming new cosmic relics, AI helps me put those swirling ideas into words. It’s like having a brainstorming partner that never runs out of coffee.

The Strengths of ChatGPT

For me, ChatGPT stands out because it remembers context. It understands where I’m coming from and keeps track of what I’m working on, making it easier to develop complex, structured content with continuity. It’s also more creative—it gets modern language, subcultures, and nuance, making responses feel less robotic and more like an actual conversation.

Plus, let’s be real—Google has been collecting data on us for decades. ChatGPT doing it isn’t exactly breaking news. But in exchange, I get responses that feel more intelligent and aware of my creative journey, which is a trade-off I can live with.

The Strengths of Google Gemini

Now, Google Gemini has its own superpowers. It’s snappy, efficient, and great for quick, fact-based responses. Google has basically mapped the entire planet, so if I need location-based answers or logistical info, Gemini’s the one to call.

That said, when it comes to creativity and deeper conversations, Gemini can feel… well, like a robot. It’s decent, but it lacks the fluidity and cultural awareness that ChatGPT has. Still, for quick tasks like emails, memos, or finding out where the nearest spaceship repair shop is (kidding—sort of), it does the job well.

My AI Workflow: A Balanced Approach

So, how do I use them? Simple: ChatGPT for deep dives, creativity, and structured content; Gemini for quick, no-nonsense tasks. Together, they create a solid AI tag team that keeps my workflow smooth and efficient.

Pros and Cons of ChatGPT vs. Google Gemini

You can have a look at the overview of pro´s and con´t of both ai engines in a chart below.

At the end of the day, AI is only as good as the person using it. Whether it’s ChatGPT, Google Gemini, or some future AI overlord, the key is knowing their strengths, refining your prompts, and making them work for you—not the other way around.
