Through large-scale acrylic and oil portraits, my work reflects the stories of marginalized characters in contemporary Afro-Cuban culture. Men, women, young people - those who are stigmatized and those who face the daily devastations of racial conflicts in present-day Cuba, struggling to have a voice and presence in society. Using a limited palette of unconventional colors, textiles, objects, and materials that come together to form a collective patchwork, has been crucial in the evolution of my painting.
